Question help guys, any info

Posted this on malibuclub too so some of you may have seen it before. 03 80,000+ miles and when I started it the other morn it ideled about 3-400 rpms and I shut it off. Tried again and the same thing. So towed it 25 miles and then checked the fuel rail and no squirt, checked the relay and thats working. There is no noise when we turn the key on from teh fuel pump itself. I should make some kinda noise correct? Also how involving is it to change a fuel pump on our cars? Could I tackle this in my driveway with friends help? Do I change out the wiring harness also when I change the pump? Thanks

me my dad and my brother inlaw changed the fuel pump in my malibu a few years ago you can tackle it in your driveway if you have a few buddys and yall are handy with a wrench its not really that hard it is just time consuming because you have to drop the gas tank so if possible it would be a great idea to run as much gas out of it as you can to make it eaiser to get the tank out

Question Fuel pump wiring harness, J vin only, weird to me

So I have been pricing fuel pumps and came across one that states the wiring harness to the pump has to be replaced on J vin codes. Just weird to me, why would it just be the J vins? Any input here?

probly relate to an odd wiring scheme used on some j-body cars. should be no problem. like he said, it's all fairly easy to do when the tank is near empty (no access panel in the car). remove, replace and re-install. just be careful on the fuel line connectors...
