Check your throttle position sensor too (if you even have one) I know that's what my 03 WJ had that solved the issue...
I'm pretty sure you can do 4" short arm lift for cheap, and not have to do an SYE or much of anything other than new arms and coils up front, and some AAL or blocks in the back. that would get you pretty set for most trails. Although, low with armor is better than tall and vulnerable. www.jcroffroad.com makes ALOT of sweet stuff for XJ's, I really like their armor.. If you ever get up to michigan (I.E. a dune trip or to one of our parks) shoot me an email @ ksi_flyboy@hotmail.com cause I 4x4 a LOT.... Btw, BFG tires size small, my 33's measure closer to a 32, so you could probably fit 33" BFG's on 3-4" of lift with little or no trimming. I say so because instead of getting 31" bfg's you could get 32" bfgs and get just that much more outta your money. I think you'll find 31's are a good street/offroad compromise, as you can air them down alot better than 235's (also my stock size) check out www.gl4x4.com for parts and info my SN over there is OldSlowReliable and I have a rig build up topic there too ![]() |

The idle issue was the IAC valve dirty. Cleaned that SoB and it idle purrrfect now. For now, it is staying stock minus hitch on rear and tow hooks up front and some disco's for the sway bar. Gotta make it somewhat trailable in stock form.

This is the green trail at Badlands....There is four parts to this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym72xKd0fBI I haven't been on green yet, but was told stock vehicles should be able to handle it. I would have attempted it last time, but couldn't get my sway bars disconnected. Plan to tackle this problem at some point by getting some easy disconnects.

Before you spend the money on an entire set of QD's...check to see how much you dislike running w/o sways... First unhook rear, drive for a day or so. Then remove both, see how you like it, then bolt the rear back on and see how you like that.
I drive w/o any sway bars and I don't notice anything unless I'm swerving insanely at highway speeds....with 20 y.o. shocks and no steering damper! |

The SB will be connected unless I am actually off roading. I don't want to risk it with my only vehicle. Seen a few pictures of Jeeps that had disco'd while on the road and wrecked.

Wrecked it........
Going down a road doing about 40 when my right front wheel went off the pavement and took the rest of hte Jeep with it before I could react. I believe my right mirror hit a pole (it all happened so fast, I couldn't tell for sure) because it is broke off. The back side of the passenger door frame is messed up the window won't go up. The back passenger door frame is bent to where the window only goes up 3/4 of the way. My fender flare for the right front broke mostly off (had to get it off to drive off the lawn I stopped in). Started driving again and noticed a bunch of smoke. Pulled into a parking lot and noticed fluid puking all over. When I was trying to stop (stupid Jeep brakes) in grass, I went over a few driveways. When I did this, my right trailing arm pinched some tranny lines on the engine side (so I have a tranny cooler?) and I lost all tranny fluid. Calling insurance in the morning to see about a claim and to get a rental car. If it is totaled (which i don't think pending no surprise under damage) I might not be going with another Jeep. All i need is something with a roof rack (maybe an Aztec). If it isn't, then I need to find money to pay the deductible. Anyway, here is a few pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What sucks is that I just got the tires and new front shocks put on. Cleaned it outside and in. Even did the brakes (they were stronger then before). I was actually enjoying driving it unlike before.

I would go for another jeep, or station wagons are cheaper than SUV's. Subaru makes some solid wagons. The Aztecs are butt ugly though

Subi's are in the mix, Aztec's are also,
and so is this. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/1839000674.html I need to find out what is going to happen to the Jeep. Might be totaled. Did 1000 in damage (or plus some). It is at a body shop later.
